Becoming a digital nomad: concrete steps to get started (even without a diploma)
Share
✨ Do you dream of working from anywhere, but don't know where to start?
You scroll through Instagram, you see people traveling, working in cafes, living free and light... and you wonder:
“It’s for others, right?”
No way.
This lifestyle is much more accessible than you might think , provided you know where to start and what to equip yourself with .
🧠 Step 1 – Understand what you really want
Before you give up everything, ask yourself:
• Do I want to move every month? Every 6 months?
• Do I just want to telework while traveling a little, or live 100% nomadic?
• Am I ready to live with less, to live better?
There's no one right way to be a nomad , there's just yours.
🛠️ Step 2 – Find a compatible career
You don't need to be a coder or an influencer to become a digital nomad.
Here are some very accessible professions:
• Freelance writer
• Community manager
• Graphic designer
• Virtual assistant
• Online trainer
• Translator
• Online seller / dropshipper
• Coach or consultant
• Content / video / photo creator
• Customer support (remote)
💡 You can train for free (or almost) on YouTube, LinkedIn Learning, Tuto.com, etc.
Start small. One client. One mission. One test.
🌍 Step 3 – Create your mobile work environment
Before booking your flight, equip yourself properly.
Because without reliable tools, nomadic life quickly becomes a constant stress.
✅ To be expected:
• Laptop (light but powerful)
• Foldable support
• Universal charger (quality USB-C)
• Power bank
• Compact USB key or SSD
• Tech kit
• VPN (NordVPN or ProtonVPN type)
And above all: don't multiply the gadgets . Each object in your bag must have a real use.
🎒 That's why we created the LHEXOR kits
We have designed kits to avoid the classic “I take everything, and I use nothing”.
Each product is chosen for its versatility, strength, size and design .
Whether you're coworking in Madrid or struggling at the airport, your LHEXOR kit will save you the hassle.
🧠 The format: compact.
🎯 The goal: more efficiency, less stress.
✈️ Step 4 – Choose your first drop-off point
No need to go halfway around the world right from the start.
Here are some great places to start, if you're based in Europe:
• Lisbon (Portugal) – coworking, sun, nomadic community
• Barcelona (Spain) – wifi, atmosphere, activities
• Budapest (Hungary) – affordable, dynamic
• Tbilisi (Georgia) – easy visa, complete change of scenery
• Berlin (Germany) – for creatives
The important thing is to try things out. You don't have to go away for a year. Start with a month. Observe what you like. What you miss.
📩 Bonus: think about your community
Being nomadic also means… often being alone.
So try to connect:
• Facebook or Discord groups for digital nomads
• Platforms like Meetup, Workaway, NomadList
• Coworkings, cafes, hostels
• And why not… an inspiring newsletter 😏
